Designer Q+A:

#1. Q: Can you share a motto, mantra, quote or verse that serves as a continual source of inspiration for you?

A: “We shall stand in the sun with a will and we shall be dangerous.”

This quote, taken from Khalil Gibran’s poem "Defeat", and can be found engraved on the backside of the Solvera Vis Medallion, now exclusively sold at BJC! This design was originally something I created for myself, and was intended to be a personal token of one of my deepest beliefs in life - that if I have the bravery to cast aside my self-protection mechanisms, to allow myself to stand humbly exposed and vulnerable in the Light, I will be met with true power and healing in return. The will is the promise of that exchange. Our willingness is the only requirement.

#2. Q: Why is having a positive impact through jewelry important to you?

A: As jewelers, we have the unique opportunity to celebrate life’s most meaningful moments and become part of someone’s legacy. That’s a powerful responsibility—and one I don’t take lightly. I believe it’s essential to honor both the people and the planet behind every piece, ensuring that care, integrity, and transparency are woven into every step of the process.

For me, making beautiful jewelry is just the beginning. It’s equally about aligning my work with my values and using this platform to help shift the industry toward something more equitable and sustainable. I see “positive impact” as the accumulation of small, intentional choices—choices that improve our supply chains, deepen our empathy, and invite greater accountability on an industry level.

My background in journalism plays a key role in this. Storytelling taught me to listen deeply and approach others with care and humility—skills that translate directly into how I design and connect with my clients. People trust us with their most intimate milestones, and I believe that trust is built not just through ethical sourcing, but through meaningful, human-centered relationships. I want the people that ultimately wear a piece of my jewelry to feel that care and confidence as they walk forward in the world.

#3. Q: What’s your favorite gemstone and why? (If it’s too hard to pick one, what are your top 3?!)

A:  I’ve always been an opal girl—through and through. Lucky for me, it’s also my birthstone. There’s just something about them... the way each one holds a secret world within. No two are ever the same, and that mystery keeps me coming back. I love how, if you look closely enough, an entire underwater landscape seems to shimmer into view. These are the stones I naturally gravitate toward in my designs.

That said, emeralds are a very close second. Their depth of color feels ancient—as if they quietly keep the histories of our planet.
